Long long ago in a peaceful valley there was a small village. It had lots of food and water, all the villagers were happy. But one night a gigantic Dragon called Su Huz came and rained fire upon the peaceful village. All the crops burned, the river destroyed and all the houses were burnt to the ground. “What are we going to do” sobbed the Chief

“We need a Guardian” suggested one of the villagers “Something powerful”. So the Chief went to the highest point in the valley and spoke to Athena “Athena we need your help”.

“What is it you seek?” asked Athena.

“A Guardian” said the Chief “Something powerful”.

“NO” bellowed Athena “I will not help you”.

“Please” begged the Chief “My people are dying”.

“Fine” agreed Athena “I will take the strongest animals of Earth and combine them”.

“Thank you Athena this will be greatly appreciated” said the Chief. So later that night while the villagers tried to rebuild their homes Athena took the strongest animals on Earth: The Eagle, the biggest and fastest bird in the sky, The Lion, one of most feared big cats around its big hind legs will help jumping and running easier. In the morning Athena beckoned the Chief. “What is it Athena?” asked the Chief

“I have done what you wanted” replied Athena “I made you a Guardian, behold the ‘Griffon’,” and at that exact moment a giant creature emerged from the clouds and landed beside the Chief “Climb on he's yours” said Athena. The Chief climbed on the Griffon and flew down to the village and announced that the village has a guardian and will be protected. The End.

Term 3

My Uncle is bald with bright blue eyes which don’t go with his muddy socks. He likes to wear jeans/pants with T-shirts around home and outside in the garden. If he's not on the couch he will be playing with his bulldog or in the garden.

My Uncle likes motocross, old cars, his Harley Davidson and building stuff like the go kart he made with my Grandad when he was a kid. I’m not sure what Harley Davidson he has. But I do know he has a Chevrolet Bellare and my Grandad’s old E-type Jaguar. I call him “The Cool Uncle”.

I like going round to my Uncle’s house with Jack and Nath (My Cousins) so we can hoon around his paddock on the go kart or his little 50cc motorbike or play with his bulldog and sometimes have bonfires.

Composing machinery music

We have been learning about physical science and simple machines. We used Garageband on Mac to compose a 1 minute soundtrack for an imagined mechanical process. It needed a start and be gearing up, a middle section, and a shutting down. We had to include an ostinato track (continuing throughout). Sounds were added from Garageband's loops library, but we also had to create one track using Garageband's Musical Typing keyboard, and to create and record at least one foley sound of our own. We also had to edit sounds in some way - eg: 

• Pitch
• Effects - eg echoes, distortions
• Length of notes
• Speed
• Volume

This is our first effort and we've made some very interesting soundtracks. We had fun exploring all the different possibilities for creating sound and putting it all together. The idea of becoming a sound engineer, or even a foley artist, appeals to some!
